Scroggins Custom Guitars
I'm Charles Scroggins. I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old, and immediately fell in love with the instrument. When I was 16 I started tinkering with them to learn how they worked, and started by setting up my and my friend's instruments. A few years later, in the mid-nineties, I decided to get serious, and apprenticed in a repair shop learning to do setups, fret dresses, electronics and structural repairs, under the guidance of a professional luthier. I also bought tools books and wood, and started learning to build them. This was an intense time of study for me, and I also recieved my certificate of luthiery from the local luthier school Stringworks and started building my own instruments. These early instruments caught the attention of local musicians, and a local music store hired me as the store repairman, based on the instruments and the recomendations of local musicians. Word spread quickly, and I was eventually able to become an independant contractor, running my own business. At this point I've worked on over 10,000 instruments, for all styles of players, and regularly make instruments from scratch. I've even made guitars for famous artists like Wayne "Animal" Turner, who was the guitarist for the Hank Williams backup band, the Grammy nominated Bama Band! Many times, people have told me I did for their guitar what no one else has been able to do. Give me a call, I love to talk shop!
Good Looking! (My guitars, anyway!)
